I research the formation and maintenance of social consensus and the methodology of effective communication, which are necessary for planning and promoting large-scale public policies such as the development of transportation infrastructure. Recently, I have been conducting research on the impact of narrative communication on people’s attitudes. “Narrative” is an unfamiliar word in the field of engineering, but in psychology and other fields, it has been studied as one of the fundamental frameworks for humans to recognize and interpret things. In recent years, empirical findings have begun to accumulate in fields such as psychology, sociology, linguistics, neuroscience, and medicine on how narrative communication changes people’s minds, behavior, and relationships. I conduct research using experimental psychology methods with the aim of applying these findings to public projects.
